Non-Traditional Plans

By rborah   Oct 02,2007

My fiancée and I discussed at length what we wanted for our honeymoon, we both agreed that we wanted to avoid being around large groups of people. We were wondering if there is an option that doesn’t involve a hotel, something like renting a house so we could be just us, alone on our honeymoon. We are not looking for anything too remote, we still want to see the sights, we just want to avoid the standard hotel or resort routine.

There is hope! You can definitely rent a house and celebrate your wedding there. There are some areas like Manuel Antonio where you can find breathtaking homes overlooking the ocean with a huge deck where the ceremony can take place. If you want to avoid crowds or unwanted visitors this is an excellent option. All the arrangements can be done at the house just as it would be done with a hotel; do not worry about this. Another option would be to find a hotel that has a “semi-private” beach like Sugar Beach Hotel in the northern coast. In this case, the beach is not really private, but the only way to get to the beach is by going through the hotel, so you know for sure that nobody, other than the hotel guests will bother you.
