I was shocked when i saw the stories about Plus Rent a Car in Liberia Costa Rica because it is EXACTLY the same scam and story that happened to me in Jan of this year. I have been to Costa Rica many times and always loved the country and people and in no way does this reflect my feelings about the country. BUT! This car rental place has a history of ripping people off and maybe those of us who have had the same experience can do something about it.
DO NOT RENT FROM PLUS RENT A CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLUS RENT A CAR IS A SCAM!
I too was taken for US $1000 by Mr Hidalgo. He is a criminal who preys on tourists. I submitted all the information to my credit card company one year ago and thought that it was cleared up, but Hidalgo has now submitted phony paperwork and the charge has been rebilled to my account.
STAY AWAY FROM PLUS RENT A CAR IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF!

I rented a car from this criminal more than one year ago. He charged a $1000 fee to my credit card a month after returning the car in perfect condition! I called the guy back and he told me to call back the next day. The next day, he pretented that he couldn't hear me on his phone. My credit card company initially refunded the money, but has now rebilled me because this guy(Freddy Hidalgo) has submitted a "damage claim". This is absoloute fraud. The horrible part of all this is that the credit card companies have to be aware of his activities from all the complaints that they recieve. Why don't they cut him off and refuse to be participants in the fraud?

This gets even better! Today I receive by mail the supposed damage report from "PLUS Rent a Car". The guy has taken my exact signature from my VISA imprint and pasted it on to the forged documents.
IS THIS GUY FOR REAL?
Not only that, there are now at least 2 other people from the Toronto area he has ripped off. Gee, did they damage the vehicles too? Hardly a coincidence!!
I have notified the Costa Rican tourist board and I hope this gutless F@#$k gets nailed

AGAIN, ANYONE TRAVELLING TO COSTA RICA, DO NOT USE PLUS RENT A CAR.

Plus rent a car has scammed me out of $1500.00. can the poster of the first message please email me and tell me what you did?

I had the exact same thing happen to me in March, and am still fighting Chase Bank against the forged signature and 700$ charges. Did you have any success after? Please help! Plus Rent a Car can't get away with this, it's ridiculous!
