Hotel Cariblue, A Cave Of Thieves
We were in another hotel in Puerto Viejo and had a reservation for 3 days in the Hotel Cariblue. As it was raining a lot in the area, we decided to cancel the reservation 5 days before the check in. Cariblue hotel answered us that they never accept cancellations and always retain 100% of the payment. I went to the hotel and asked them personally if they were going to retain the money for all the meals that they never would serve us. Yes, of course, they said.
I called to the Costa Rica Tourism Board (ICT) and explained the problem. ICT said us that this hotel refused to sign the Touristic Declaratory so that Cariblue hotel has its own rules and can do what they want?
To sum up, if you have some problem in Costa Rica you are completely helpless because ICT is an organization merely informative and hotels which did not sign the Touristic Declaratory can do what they want. Cariblue is one of these hotels, they are only interested in grasping your money and if there is any imprevisible incident you are lost.

But here seems like you miss few words:
"ALREADY PAID TO THE TRAVEL AGENT"!!
We are completely surprised to receive such a kind of offensive commentary,
when you so easily call us "a cave of thieves" even understanding that you
probably don't know anything about reservation and cancellation politics.
We don't have any agreement with you, Mr.Angel425!
We indeed have one with your Travel Agency, for sure!
So, first of all in case of any kind of modification, change or cancellation
You MUST following the appropriate procedures:
1. You should have contacted your TRAVEL AGENCY FIRST. Not a hotel with whom you have never spoken.
2. If you HAD contacted your agent first - they would have had the responsibility of taking care of this problem for you.
3. Only breakfast was included in your package
4. What is this "Touristy Declaratory" - I have lived here for 15 years and never heard of it. All businesses have the RIGHT to run their businesses the way they see fit.
5. Interested in grasping money? No - only interested in talking to the agency that MADE THE RESERVATION - THIS AGENCY KNOWS THE CANCELLATION POLICY OF
HOTEL CARIBLUE.
6. Cancelling a reservation due to rain in a RAIN FOREST AREA?? Better that you just go to the Pacific coast from now on and live us primates alone.
Our Hotel is working since 10 year serving to the tourism with honesty,
Justice and professionalism respecting every person, not like you did with our poor
Receptionist you assault with your maltreatment and hard words, when you
where here try to PUTTING YOUR OWN RULES.
We have a prestige at world-wide level, in spite of being a small hotel and
independent accord to the thousand of people visit us every year.

Attention Hotel Management- we in Canada work very hard for our money. When we book reservations with a hotel airline or travel agency, everyone accepts responsibility to please the customer. You are becoming a very popular country but bad words go around fast. You better look at the big picture, we will be fair with you, that is all we know
