On my last visit to Costa Rica I went to Sugar Beach and the road was a little bumpy. There are not regular daily shuttle transfers from Liberia; the easiest way to get there is to arrange a transfer in advance or rent a car from Liberia Airport. If you are going in the high season I strongly suggest making arrangements ahead of time because sometimes they are out of the kind of car you want then you have to waste a lot of your time trying to find one.
