What is the best way to get at Villas Rio Mar, how long does it takes from San Jose. Is a bad idea to rent a car?

The best way to get to Villas Rio Mar is driving towards Perez Zeledon, it will take you around 3.5 hours and the roads are fine. Renting a car would be a good idea to explore the area a little bit. I remember seeing lots pf beaches nearby
