Are there big waves near the Flamingo Beach Resort? If not, where is the closest surfing spot?

Me and my friends stayed at Flamingo resort last summer and all my friends wanted to surf, so we drove to Tamarindo located 30 minutes away. Playa Grande is also another great spot for surfing 40 minutes away.
