I heard that Playa Grande is really good for surfers, how far is Tamarindo and what is the best way to get there?

I hope to go back to Playa Grande soon, it was a great place and waves are cool. There is a boat service from Playa Grande to Tamarindo that takes 15min and by land transportation around 45min.
