Strong Currents?

Are the currents in Nosara very strong or you can swim in the ocean? I need to know because my son is not a very good swimmer... please help!

Nosara has some serious waves and rough waters, so I'd not recommend it for kids.

Wave are seldom to big to be out on the water. The only beach with bad currents is Playa Nosara north of the river. Guiones is the most popular and very swimable. Playa Pelada is the quietest and great for kids as it has many pool left by the tide. Pelada is not much for surfing due to the reef break.
