I am confused about the location of the Int. Airport Juan Santamaria, is this close to San Jose or to the hotels in Alajuela?

The name of the Int. Airport is Juan Santamaria is located at 10 minutes from Alajuela and around 25 minutes from San Jose, by the way is an small airport so you have to be like 3 hours prior your departure.
