Puerto Jimenez is a small town on the northeast tip of the Osa Peninsula, south of the province of Puntarenas in Costa Rica. It is the gateway to national park “ Corcovado ” and the coastal villages of Cabo Matapalo and Carate. Rustic elegance and a peaceful, yet inviting ambience merges lovely with a great place to stay at night, and then go fishing during the day. For many, this Costa Rican town is the closest they’ve seen to paradise. The way to Puerto Jimenez, could either be by bus or car (this will take about 9 hours of driving, outstanding sightseeing though) or a 55 minute domestic flight that will give you a lot more time to enjoy Puerto Jimenez and the Osa Peninsula.
Rough Jungles can experience with no worries at all. The town itself is only a couple of gravel streets, walked everyday by local, backpackers and passersby that certainly enjoy the small town feeling that embraces Puerto Jimenez.
Don’t even think that the nightlife is going to be too sleepy for you, the town comes alive on some evenings with the locals and visitors, enjoying the Mango Margaritas and Imperial beers at some of the popular bars of this small town. Night time might be interesting and a quite a different experience. Also the close towns such as Pan Dulce, and Carbonera beaches are surfing paradises. Puerto Jimenez offers amazing sports fishing and impressive hiking the nearby forests such as Corcovado National Park, wich is a Biological Reserved area full of stunning tropical plants and animals.
