On the Manuel Antonio map you can see that there’s a port and airport in Quepos: If you wish to fly into this town from San Jose you can do so and it is just a very short 15 minute flight. Manuel Antonio is usually considered a satellite town of Quepos, because this town came up after the decision to create the National Park Manuel Antonio. If you feel up to the adventure, you can drive south to Dominical on a road that is rough and bumpy in the dry season, and almost impassable during the rainy season; however, it is worth the visit. You’ll pass by the Savegre beach, Matapalo, Baru and then Dominical, where there’s great surfing and a completely different ambiance. Beyond dominical you’ll see the Parque Nacional Ballena, an area that protects the whales and dolphins that arrive into the Costa Rican coasts.
