The Turtle Beach Lodge, Tortuguero’s National Park hotel in Costa Rica. Located in the middle of the park, you can only access this region with a boat via rivers and canals in the rain forest. Turtle Beach Lodge is located 5 miles (8 km) north of the town of Tortuguero. This area of Tortuguero is also known as “The Amazon of Costa Rica”. The Turtle Lodge is a secluded resort covering 175 acres (70 hectares) with miles of jungle trails, an intricate private canal, and a pristine beach adjoining still more isolated beaches. In this region you will find Tortuguero National Park, a protected area featuring varied wildlife including 57 species of amphibians, 111 species of reptiles, 60 species of mammals, and more than 300 species of birds
At the Turtle Resort you will be attended by a warm and friendly Costa Rican staff as well as experienced guides who will be committed to providing you the best vacation ever. This lodge accommodates approximately 80 guests. Stay in rustic cabins, relax and refresh yourself in a turtle shaped pool or relax in the adjacent shady hammock hut with food and drinks from the restaurant and bar. The pool is conveniently located near the bar and restaurant so you can order by the pool. The restaurant boasts a 40 ft tall thatched palm conical roof in order to keep with the local building traditions. There are several round tables and chairs scattered around Turtle Beach Lodge so you can enjoy the landscaped gardens. On these grounds you will find trees with exotic fruits such as papaya, mango and bananas. The rooms at Turtle Beach Lodge are comfortable and cozy nestled right in the jungle. At night the creatures of the jungle might seem like they are right at your door. Lounge in the hammock hut while reading a good book or just taking a nap. You will be surrounded by the jungle yet in comfortable and secure accommodations at Turtle Beach Lodge. Costa Rica does not have any other hotel as impressive as this one in the middle of a National Park.
The Atlantic Green Sea Turtle visits the beaches of Tortuguero between June and October to nest. From November to May you will find leatherback and hawksbill sea turtles laying eggs here as well but not as many as the Green Sea Turtles. Any time of the year that you visit Tortuguero your chance of watching a turtle coming out of the water to lay its eggs on the sand is very high. At Turtle Resort you will also be stunned by the diverse flora and fauna that you will see here. Troops of monkeys in the trees, exotic morpho butterflies gently passing by, colorful poison dart frogs, sloth and toucans are just some of the exciting animals that you will see while you are in Tortuguero. Guests staying at Turtle Beach Lodge can do almost everything a traveler could desire without even leaving the grounds. Guests can try a kayak or canoe, take walks on the jungle trails or beach, ride horses down the beach, fish in the canals or the ocean’s surf, swim in the pool, play in the ocean, and of course “turtle-watching” in season. Have a truly active vacation in this Costa Rican ecological lodge.
