This all inclusive resort offers a truly memorable golfing experience at the Garra de Leon Golf Course (the Lion’s Paw). The course has been designed in the classic tradition of the game with 2 distinct nine-hole segments of pure golf. Each nine begins from the central club house site and meanders through the rolling terrain with breathtaking views of the ocean on some of the holes. This is environmentally sensitive golf at its best, with the course incorporated into the native Costa Rica landscape. Careful attention has gone into preserving and enhancing the native forest and mangroves. Several lagoons and lakes have been created to enhance the golfing experience as well as to serve as a filtration system for the golf course runoff. You will enjoy a good game in this place that is near the beach and surrounded by hills of the jungle. This course is set in a village atmosphere at this all inclusive resort tucked into a pristine valley on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. This course is a great combination of beautiful surroundings and great golf that has made this a paradise. On this course the sun comes up early allowing for a full day of fun filled with the sites and sounds of the tropics. For those early risers, it's very possible to get in a full round and still catch a delicious breakfast buffet at poolside.

Hole 1
Par 4
Yellow 319 Yards
Blue 298 Yards
White 275 Yards
Red 247 Yards
Don't be fooled by what appears to be an easy opening hole. Leave the driver in the bag, and use a fairway wood or long iron off the tee. A precise approach shot is required to avoid the ravine on two sides of the shallow green.

Hole 2
Par 4
Yellow 438 Yards
Blue 416 Yards
White 395 Yards
Red 339 Yards
The fairway slopes right-to-left, favoring a draw tee shot that avoids the out-of-bounds on the right.

Hole 3
Par 4
Yellow 466 Yards
Blue 442 Yards
White 417 Yards
Red 369 Yards
You will need your best drive here, aiming for the right side to gain extra yardage. Favor the right side with your approach and take an extra club to compensate for the uphill shot.

Hole 4
Par 5
Yellow 585 Yards
Blue 563 Yards
White 533 Yards
Red 489 Yards
Favor the left side with your tee shot. Avoid the large tree on the left with your second shot, and try to get close to the green so that you may hit a higher approach shot to hold the ball on the shallow green.

Hole 5
Par 3
Yellow 209 Yards
Blue 180 Yards
White 151 Yards
Red 126 Yards
This hole plays downhill, so you can hit less club and still clear the water. Balls landing to the left of the green may ricochet back onto the putting surface.

Hole 6
Par 4
Yellow 443 Yards
Blue 419 Yards
White 393 Yards
Red 343 Yards
Aim your tee shot at the bunker on the left since the fairway slopes to the right toward the water and lateral hazard. Use more club on the approach shot to the green favoring the left side.

Hole 7
Par 5
Yellow 542 Yards
Blue 521 Yards
White 496 Yards
Red 440 Yards
A bold tee ball over the trees on the left might allow you to get home in two with a heroic shot over the water. The safer course of action is to stay to the right while avoiding the 13 bunkers.

Hole 8
Par 3
Yellow 177 Yards
Blue 147 Yards
White 124 Yards
Red 96 Yards
The severe slope of the green dictates a tee shot to the right where the ball feeds toward the hole. The ravine in front and to the left will catch errant shots.

Hole 9
Par 4
Yellow 422 Yards
Blue 397 Yards
White 325 Yards
Red 325 Yards
The fairway tends to get narrow in the landing area, with a bunker left and water right. The approach shot must clear the water, but there is a bailout area to the left of the green.

Hole 10
Par 4
Yellow 446 Yards
Blue 415 Yards
White 390 Yards
Red 346 Yards
From the tee, aim toward the mound at the right corner of this dogleg. A ravine crosses the fairway 100 yards from the hole, and runs up the left side of a narrow and long green.

Hole 11
Par 3
Yellow 189 Yards
Blue 167 Yards
White 141 Yards
Red 104 Yards

A precise long iron is required to reach the two-level, elevated green built into the hillside. The ravine in front should not be a problem.

Hole 12
Par 4
Yellow 420 Yards
Blue 395 Yards
White 322 Yards
Red 304 Yards
Don't be distracted by the view looking 100 feet down to the fairway from the elevated back tees. The white tees lose the view, but are 100 yards closer to the hole. Avoid the out-of-bounds to the left, and favor the left side of the green with an approach shot using more club.

Hole 13
Par 5
Yellow 521 Yards
Bue 495 Yards
White 469 Yards
Red 418 Yards
Aim your tee shot at the bunkers on the left, remembering there is plenty of room to the right, even with a few trees. Three strategically-placed bunkers on the right make the second shot challenging, and the landing area slopes to the left. Reachable in two, but beware of the out-of-bounds.

Hole 14
Par 4
Yellow 382 Yards
Blue 345 Yards
White 316 Yards
Red 282 Yards
The ideal placement off the tee is to the right side, avoiding the three well-placed bunkers. A precise approach shot with the correct club makes a birdie a possibility, but beware of the bunkers guarding the green.

Hole 15
Par 4
Yellow 445 Yards
Blue 426 Yards
White 404 Yards
Red 381 Yards
Hit it long, aiming at the bunker on the left side of the fairway since there is a ravine all the way down the right side. Favor the left side with your approach shot, and take plenty of club for this uphill shot to a shallow green.

Hole 15

Hole 16
Par 4
Yellow 413 Yards
Blue 367 Yards
White 326 Yards
Red 309 Yards
This is another demanding drive to test your nerves, with a narrow fairway bordered by hazards on both sides. Be aware of the water 80 yards short of the green, and the bunkers guarding both sides of the green. The beach is located behind the green.

Hole 17
Par 3
Yellow 134 Yards
Blue 130 Yards
White 104 Yards
Red 96 Yards
Pick the right club for this shot over the water or you will be headed for the drop circle to the left of the big tree. The green has three levels, with a mesa in the middle.

Hole 18
Par 5
Yellow 529 Yards
Blue 501 Yards
White 457 Yards
Red 428 Yards
This is a great risk-reward finishing hole, allowing the brave -- or foolish -- the chance to get home in two with another heroic fairway wood or long iron over the water. The safe play is again to the right. Pitch shots to the green must land on the front since the putting surface slopes away.
