Location and Driving Directions
If you are departing from San Jose there are two options as to which route you can take: Option 1 Upon leaving the international airport drive northward on HWY 125 until you come across route 9. Stay north and follow road signs towards San Miguel and Puerto Viejo. About 20 miles after San Miguel you should see Selva Verde Lodge on your right hand side. This route takes you past La Paz Waterfall Gardens and the Poás Volcano National Park. The drive takes about 2 hours. Option 2 This route is equally full of natural beauty and interesting tourist sights such as the Rainforest Aerial Tram and La Selva Biological Field Station. Drive north from the Juan Santamaria airport, stay on HWY 125 until you reach route 9. From here go south to find route 32. About 8 miles past the Aerial Tram, take a left on route 4. Drive north until you arrive in Puerto Viejo. You will reach a stop sign, take another left and travel 5 miles westward until you see Selva Verde Lodge on your left hand side. The drive takes approximately 2 hours.
