Location and Driving Directions
Playa Conchal is located in the province of Guanacaste in Costa Rica on the Pacific Ocean, about 25 miles (40 km) northwest of the city of Santa Cruz. The 2,400 acre (970 hectare) property features a 5,000 yard (4,575 meter) coastline accented by a rocky peninsula with steep undulating topography. A sandy beach, approximately 2,500 yards (2,290 meters) long, offers magnificent views of the coastline and is one of the hotelís primary attributes. A natural divide, a steep ridge over 330 feet (100 meters) above sea level, extends east west through the central part of the property. It virtually divides the property equally. The northern slope of this ridge offers spectacular ocean views over the existing Melia Playa Conchal resort and Garra de Leon Golf Course. These facilities occupy approximately 240 acres (230 hectares) or 10% of the property, along the eastern portion of the beach. The area is accessible by air from San Jose to the Tamarindo airport, a 10 minute drive from the landing strip to the hotel. The Liberia International Airport to the east is an hour and a half drive. The drive takes a while due to the roads not being in the best of conditions. It takes approximately 3Ĺ hours to drive to the property from the San Jose International Airport. If you are driving from the Juan Santamaria International Airport, take the Inter Ameircan Highway to Liberia. Approximately 3 hours from Liberia take the road to Santa Cruz and turn right in Belen. About 30 minutes from Belen follow signs to the hotel or the town of Brasilito. It takes around 4 hours to get there. Coming from the Daniel Oduber Airport in Liberia, take highway 21 to Santa Cruz and turn right in Belen, and from there follow the signs to the hotel. It takes around 30 minutes to get there from the Tamarindo Regional Airport.
