Day Activities
At Peace Lodge you are welcome to enjoy the scenery while going along the trails of La Paz Waterfall Gardens before it opens and after it closes at no cost. The tour is self-guided which allows you to go directly to your area of interest. Here you can also find the Butterfly Garden where you can see the butterflies up close as they emerge from their cocoons or in other stages of their growth. And let’s not forget about the Hummingbird Garden where you can find 24 different species of these birds.
For attractions around the area, you can visit the Reventazon River for rafting where you will find some of the fastest 10 miles of Class III Rapids in the world. You can also take a canopy tour, a rain forest aerial tram and even do some sport fishing. You can also visit a historic coffee farm awarded Historic Heritage of Costa Rica award. From there, you can continue climbing the mountain until you reach the Poas Volcano National Park at 8,200 feet (2,499 meters) which is the second largest accessible volcanic crater in the world. Some other places you can visit are the Arenal Volcano and hot springs, San Jose downtown and the Sarapiqui River.
