Location and Driving Directions
The Maribu Caribe Hotel is located in Portrete, Limon, on the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica. Limon is 99 miles (160 km) east of San Jose, with a driving time of 2 ½ hours. Uvita Island is a national landmark park located ½ a mile (1 km) offshore. Limon is also a gateway to Tortuguero National Park and Barra del Colorado National Wildlife Refuge via the Tortuguero Canals. South of Puerto Limon is Cahuita National Park, Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, and Hitoy-Cerere Biological Reserve. Daily direct buses depart from San Jose to Limon every hour from 5:00 am to 7:00 pm, with a driving time of 2 ½ hours. When arriving in Limon, you can easily find a taxi that will take you to the hotel. Or you can take a bus departing hourly from Calle 4 and Avenida 4 to the town of Portrete. If you are driving from Juan Santamaria International Airport or San Jose, follow the road to Limon. The Guapiles Highway heads north out of San Jose on Calle 3 before turning east and passing close to Barva Volcano and through the rainforests of Braulio Carrillo National Park, en route to Limon. The drive takes about 2 1/2 hours and is spectacularly beautiful, especially when it's not raining or misty. Continue north from Limon on the Portrete road for 3 miles (5 km) to the hotel.
