Luna Lodge is a secluded wildlife ecolodge in Costa Rica. This bungalow resort is located in Carate, near the Corcovado National Park in the Costa Rican rainforest. The beautiful Luna lodge Costa Rica in Osa Peninsula is set on 30 acres of property comprised mainly of virgin tropical jungle. This unique wilderness lodge offers you a vacation destination where you will find not only a relaxing time away from your daily activities, but also an amazing view of Costa Rica’s plants, animals and many bird species such as the scarlet macaw, red-legged honeycreeper, and slate-tailed trogon as in a photographic safari: lodges like these are hard to find elsewhere in the world. The massive horse head-shaped Osa Peninsula lies in the Costa Rican South Pacific. The region protects major tropical forests, preserved as Corcovado National Park. When you arrive at Luna Lodge Costa Rica, a sparsely populated outpost literally at the end of the road on the far western side of the peninsula will welcome you and let you know that you are at the final frontier of this precious land, one of the wildest and most remote regions of Central America. This is where you will find this exquisite ocean view wilderness hotel and lodge, surrounded by flora and fauna, waiting for you to come and have an unforgettable experience.
Luna Lodge Costa Rica offers you five year-round waterfalls on the property itself, one with a swift flowing chute and refreshing wading pool less than a ten minute walk from the bungalows. In the main facility of Luna Lodge Costa Rica you will find the restaurant, a bar, office, and a small gift shop. It was built in a traditional Costa Rican rancho style, using tropical hardwood trees, white cane from the rivers, and palm fronds grown right on the peninsula. The wooden deck in front is perfect for morning yoga, star gazing, or simply to sit down and admire the wonders of nature from a vantage point high above the bay. Explore this wilderness lodge to your heart’s content and enjoy Costa Rica’s pristine regions.
Luna Lodge wildlife Ecolodge has 8 thatched roof bungalows built spread over the lush rainforest, all decorated in a rustic Costa Rican style. The ocean view lodge bungalows provide all the necessary amenities and a private deck with some rocking chairs, facing a magnificent view of the rain forest. The landscape surrounding the lodge is beautiful, and the organic gardens and fruit trees like mango, water apple, papaya, china fruit and other delicious fruit trees, give it a colorful scheme you can enjoy when there. Experience your holidays in a safari lodge style location, where the only shooting you’ll do is with your camera. When you visit Luna Lodge, you will experience the radiant fragrance of the night-blooming jasmine giving the area a sense of tranquility, for a memorable Costa Rican vacation.
Location and Driving Directions
Luna Lodge is located above the Carate River Valley in Carate, Puntarenas on the Golfo Dulce of the Osa Peninsula, on the southwest coast of Costa Rica. Driving from San Jose to Luna Lodge is about a 10 hour trip. If you do it in two days, or move down the coast slowly, it is much more pleasant. Just make sure you leave enough time to spend at least 2 to 4 days at Luna Lodge. No one ever wants to leave the Peninsula de Osa. One route is to go down through the center of the country on the Inter American Highway. Follow the Highway down past San Isidro del General, past a lot of pineapple plantations, past a town called Palmar Norte and then finally you will arrive at a Gas Station that says 'Corcovado'. Turn right if you are coming from San Jose. Follow this road until you arrive at Puerto Jimenez. From Puerto Jimenez there is only one road to Carate and then follow the river up to Luna Lodge. Driving from Puerto Jimenez to Luna Lodge takes about 2 hours along a fairly rough, minimally maintained road, so a 4-wheel-drive vehicle is highly recommended. We can arrange a one-hour flight from San Jose to Carate.
