The trip begins early in the morning between 6:00 am to 7:00 am (depending of the hotel you are staying at) from San Jose . You will be traveling with a bilingual naturalist guide on an air conditioned bus. Drive through Braulio Carrillo National Park , where you have the opportunity to see beautiful views and abundant vegetation. On the way there will be a stop for breakfast at Selva Tropical Restaurant where you can enjoy a butterfly garden with a variety of tropical flowers. After breakfast the trip will continues to Caño Blanco deck driving by banana plantations.
At Caño Blanco, you will board the covered boat to the lodge, passing the Tortuguero canals arriving between 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. At the lodge the staff will be waiting for you with a refreshing cocktail, your rooms will be assigned and the guide will explain the afternoon activities after lunch -the visit to the Turtle Museum of the C.C.C. (Caribbean Conservation Corporation) and to the colorful Tortuguero town.
You will return to the lodge around 5:30 p.m. Free time to enjoy the pool, the bar service and prepare for your dinner. Dinner service from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and then rest of the night free to enjoy the surroundings, pool and bar.
6:15 am boat tour to admire the awakening of Tortuguero, a wonderful and interesting experience where you can see abundant flora and fauna of Tortuguero National Park . Return for breakfast (service between 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. ).
After breakfast the trip back to San Jose begins around 9:00 a.m. The boat will arrive at Caño Blanco around 11:00 a.m. Then a bus will be waiting for the drive back to San Jose . Stop in route for lunch at Selva Tropical Restaurant. Arrive in San Jose area around 3:00 p.m. (depending on the hotel you will be staying).
Room description: Laguna Lodge offers 80 rooms divided in blocks of 4 or 6 rooms furnished with all the basic elements for a very comfortable stay. Private bathroom, hot water, ceiling fan, reading lamps, wooden benches outside your room to admire the gardens, with 1 single or 1 double or 1 single and a double size beds.

At Laguna Lodge, Tortuguero has a small cozy lodge in the lush tropical rain forest. The hotel is located on a narrow strip of land between the Caribbean Sea and the Tortuguero Lagoon. The lodge offers access to the beach known as the most important nesting site for the green sea turtle throughout the Western Hemisphere. You can also see here other species such as leatherbacks and hawksbill sea turtles. If you enjoy the rain forest or want to know it, then you can visit the Tortuguero National Park where you can experience being among 140 ft (42 m) high trees. Laguna Lodge itself shelters a great number of birds and butterflies in its gardens. The lodge has 15 acres (6 hectares) where you will find exotic tress and beautiful tropical flowers. You can also walk through the private trails where you can make a stop, get your binoculars and try to identify that beautiful bird chirping in a tree. The Laguna Tortuguero offers it all for nature lovers, a relaxing retreat on the Northern Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica.

Location and Driving Directions
Laguna Lodge is located in Tortuguero on the North Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica approximately 50 miles (80 km) northeast of the city of Limon. There is no road to Tortuguero. Instead you need to drive to Moin and from here a boat will take you to Tortuguero on an exciting trip that lasts about 3 hours. Getting to Moin is easy. You need to take the main road that goes to Limon (Highway 32) passing through the lush Braulio Carrillo National Park. The distance between San Jose and Limon is 105 miles (168 km). Before you get to Limon you will see an exit for Moin. This is where you will board the boat that will take you to Tortuguero through a beautiful system of canals. Flying to Tortuguero from San Jose is most recommended. You will arrive at the air strip in Tortuguero and from there a local guide will take you on a short boat trip to Laguna Lodge.
