Florblanca Resort is located in Playa (Beach) Santa Teresa right next to Mal Pais on the Nicoya Peninsula. Florblanca Resort is a few miles away from Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve right on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. The closest airstrip is in Playa Tambor, located 40 minutes driving time from the hotel. SANSA Airlines and Nature Air fly daily to Tambor. It’s only a 25 minute flight (if it’s a direct flight). When you get here you would need to rent a car and have the rental car agency deliver it to the Tambor airstrip and then drive on your own to Playa Santa Teresa, where Florblanca is located. If you choose not to rent a vehicle you can also take a taxi from the airstrip to the hotel.
To drive to Malpais from the Juan Santamaria International Airport or San Jose, take the Inter American Highway towards Puntarenas. The distance from San Jose to Puntarenas is about 70 miles (110 km). In Puntarenas you will take the car ferry that goes to Paquera across the Golfo (Gulf) de Nicoya. The ferry departs every 2 hours. Once you are on the road again you will drive around the peninsula to Playa Santa Teresa for approximately 1.5 hours passing the towns of Paquera and Cobano (In Cobano you will find the last gas station, make sure to fill up. You will also find an ATM here.) until you get to Santa Teresa. You will reach the beach at a place known as Playa Carmen or “T” Street. If you take a left you go to Playa Mal Pais and to the right you go to Playa Santa Teresa. Hotel Florblanca is located 2 miles (4 kilometers) north or “right” from “T” Street. This last 4 kilometers are the worst part of the trip, the road is pretty bad.
