If you are driving from San Jose to Mal Pais take route 27 and go to Puntarenas. The Ferry to Paquera is at the very end of the tip that forms the city, where you will find small signs. Try to be there at least 45 minutes before any departure, as during the high season, it gets very busy. At the other side of the Gulf of Nicoya , you will arrive just outside the town of Paquera . Follow the cars to the town named Paquera, and continue on to Tambor, then Cobano and finally to Mal Pais.
