The Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica strives to find and propose solutions to today’s fundamental social problems through investigation, outreach programs and the upbringing of capable professionals conscious of the needs of the population. The National University of Costa Rica is a public university but has its full autonomy in matters of government administration and organization. The university since its founding has committed itself to generation of scientific knowledge and sustainable development. The University has eight faculties and three centers covering different disciplines in the areas of education, philosophy and liberal arts, social sciences, health sciences, exact sciences, applied sciences and arts. With a student body of 15000 students it offers eighty five degrees among pre grad, grad and regional post grad degrees.
