Costa Rica Men
In Costa Rica, Tico men are well educated and high moral standards are to be met since a very young age. Males are brought up to be pillars of society, good family care takers and responsible citizens. Machismo (male superiority over women) is very much a thing of the past in high developed areas, you might still find some families, mostly from rural regions still thinking that educating a woman is useless, yet this can be less than 15% percent of the total population in Costa Rica. Nowadays Men and women play a very similar role in society, have the same goals and dreams and actually unite when married to achieve a better lifestyle. Although some “macho” oriented people do feel neglected by women on this matter, most of the new generations feel very comfortable with the equality. You can actually start noticing how young men are being more attracted everyday to self sufficient and independent women. This shows how mature Costa Rica men are.
In Costa Rica, Ticos like soccer, beer (imperial most of the times), guaro, good tasty “Bocas” (snacks) and have an amazingly fun spirit. In the past if a man had many women besides his wife he was considered by his friends a “Macho”, nowadays the “tradition” still exists but the mentality has started to change. Divorce has become a regular solution to this matter, so society has slowly started to change its mind on the subject. Costa Rica men are still enjoying their national pastime of flirting, however, because of the difference of standards of other Latin American countries, it has started to decay: Costa Rican men are polite and their flirting was very well manner and very appreciated by women, though, since the increase of migration from other Latin American countries with much different flirting backgrounds and the women liberation in Costa Rica, women are now a bit cautious on the issue. If a woman is flirtatious you can be sure she will appreciate a nice compliment, but if she seems distant and uninterested it is better to save you “piropos” (compliments) for later. Costa Rica men are hard working and don’t mind taking sacrifices in order to give their families the best life possible.
They are very “chineados” (spoiled) mostly because regardless the women liberation, wives and girlfriends still tend to wait on them hand and food most of the time. Costa Rica men are educated, clean and very handsome, the multicultural effect has made Costa Ricans a very beautiful race and the ancient manners that prevail still qualify Ticos as gentlemen. Although nowadays most Latin families live under a “Matriarchal” domination, where the oldest Mother rules, men have always been respected as the head of the family, and in Costa Rica the same rule applies.
