Arroz con leche (or Rice Pudding) is a very delicious typical Costa Rica dessert. You can ask any Costa Rican about it and get nice and warm childhood stories as a response. Grandmothers might have made them when our parents took us to visit during the holidays and we can actually smell the cinnamon while talking about it. Arroz con leche is a tasteful and meaningful recipe and it is worth to try and make it yourself. Here we have included an easy and wonderful way of making Arroz con Leche, so get all the ingredients and enjoy:

    • 1½ cup of rice
    • 3 cups of water
    • 1 can of evaporated milk
    • 1 can of condensed milk
    • ¼ teaspoon of salt
    • A few cinnamon leaves
    • 1 spoon of vanilla
    • The peel of one green lemon
    • Powder cinnamon for garnish
    • Half a bar of margarine

Instructions:

Wash the rice and cook it on medium heat with the lemon peels for at least 20 minutes until it is soft. Then add the cinnamon branches, the margarine, the milks, the salt and the vanilla. Cook this mixture for a few minutes until the rice absorb the milk. Place the pudding in separate recipients for individual servings and spread a little bit of powder cinnamon on top for garnish.
