Costa Rica Banco Popular
At the Banco Popular, Costa Rica has a bank focused on the working class social group of the country, their companies and social organizations. They seek the development and best interests in banking for people and corporations of the country. They provide accessible financial services according to corporate values that include honesty, integrity and strong efforts to provide quality the economical and social needs of its clients. The Banco Popular de Costa Rica started en 1901 under the name of “Monte de Piedad” formed to create a fund of capitalized savings that were to help the urgent necessities of the working class. It worked like that until 1969 where it was then declared as Banco Popular y de Desarrollo Comunal according to the 4351 Law. Their main interest was to protect the working class economy at all costs. In 1970 they opened their first branch office in the province of Limon and from there to the rest of the country. 1986 La Asamblea Nacional de Trabajadores was created to foresee the general politics of the bank and in 1995, according to the Law of reformation of the financial system of the Republica the bank is then allowed to provide its clients with more useful services such as checking accounts and international operations at the Banco Popular en Costa Rica.
This bank has 79 branches scattered all over the country and a many ATM facilities in specific points of the Metropolitan area.
