Location and Driving Directions

To get to Mal Pais you can choose one of two routes: departing from Liberia or San Jose. If you drive from San Jose, then head west to Puntarenas and there take the ferry across to Paquera. Keep going heading for Tambor and Cobano. Upon arriving in Cobano continue to Mal Pais. If you don’t want to drive, a comfortable flight can be arranged from San Jose that arrives in Tambor, and from there book a shuttle to pick you up at the landing strip and drive you to your hotel. If you are leaving from Liberia, drive southwards. First go on towards Guardia and Comunidad, and then drive down to Santa Cruz and then to Nicoya. From Nicoya, keep on going south to Carmona, Lepanto and Naranjo: you will now be in the Nicoya Gulf. Keep driving on the same road and eventually reach Paquera. Drive towards Tambor, and Cobano, and from Cobano continue towards Mal Pais. Upon arriving at the Mal Pais crossroads take a left and continue driving for about 1km. On your left hand side there will be a sign leading to the establishment; drive up the hill until you reach the parking lot.
