Location and Driving Directions

Rincon de la Vieja Lodge is located in the province of Guanacaste 21 miles east of the Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia. Upon departing from the Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose, take the Pan American HWY and follow the road signs to Liberia. In the event that you prefer not to drive the 4 hours it takes to reach Liberia from San Jose, you can opt to take a domestic flight to the region in question. Upon reaching the Liberia airport drive straight to downtown Liberia, then continue on about 3 miles north on the main road; you should a sign that direct you to Rincon de la Vieja National Park. Here you take a right and drive for approximately 14 miles on a gravel street. You will reach the gate of a place named Hacienda Guachipelin, keep driving and turn left at the first intersection, after this there is a second intersection, here you should see a sign directing to the lodge. Here make a right and drive half a mile and you should be at the lodge. Rincon de la Vieja Lodge sits inside the borders of the Rincon de la Vieja National Park on a side of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano.
