Jungle Kayaking Package 3 Days/2 Nights
Kayaking Package Includes: Day 01 Early morning departure from San José drive via Braulio Carrillo National Park and stop for breakfast at Río Danta Restaurant, luggage will be dropped off here in order to be taken to Mawamba Lodge. Now in the Atlantic lowlands, travel through banana plantations until reaching the starting point in the Tortuguero National Park Ranger Station. Guides will begin the briefing to become familiarized with the kayaks, gear and safety issues. Starting at the boundary of the National Park on the Tortuguero River will be the most unique experience. Lunch will be along the way after paddling down the river, in the middle of the Parks tropical forest. After lunch, you will continue to meander in the lush forest with amazing flora and fauna. Later afternoon arrival at Mawamba Lodge, welcome cocktail and afternoon to relax and enjoy the setting. Dinner and overnight at Mawamba Lodge. (BLD) TOTAL PADDLE TIME: 5-6 HOURS Day 02 After a delicious buffet style breakfast, you will be shuttled by boat about 25 miles towards the Colorado River, passing through Penitencia Canal, until arrival to Samay Lagoon. Here you will board your kayaks and paddle through undiscovered canals until you reach the magical entrance to Laguna Nueve, where you will paddle in wonderfully clean water in total solitude and in a magical blend with nature. A brief visit to the beach will be one of today’s highligth. Return to Mawamba Lodge for lunch. Afternoon’s activities are designed to be very flexible, several options will be available to paddle from and back to Mawamba Lodge, take one of our scheduled boat tours or just relax in the hotel’s surroundings, including the swimming pool, jacuzzi, nature trails or take leisurely walks at the beach in front of Mawamba. During turtle nesting time between July-September an optional night tour for turtle watching is available. Overnight and dinner at Mawamba Lodge (BLD) Day 03 At 9:00 am, after breakfast, board the boat for the two hour ride to Puerto Astúa in Matina, our private dock, where refreshing tropical fruits will be waiting for you. After stretching your legs, board the bus for the return drive to San José.En route, a stop for lunch at Río Danta Restaurant will be made.
