The expansive beaches of the Osa Peninsula, especially those near Carate, where Luna Lodge is situated, are also major nesting sites for several varieties of sea turtles. If you really want to experience a lowland tropical rainforest in its most natural state, yet also enjoy an outstanding tropical beach environment, this is the place to do it.

A few minutes down from the lodge are the endless virgin beaches of the Pacific. A short walk down the beach will bring you to the entrance of Corcovado National Park, one of the largest nature preserves in Costa Rica.

There are also five year-round waterfalls on the property itself, a refreshing wading pool less than a ten minute walk from the bungalows and just a few minutes further down the river valley, among a riverbed full of brilliant white boulders, a much higher set of falls thunders down from over 40 feet; you can stand under the spray and look down at how nature is realigning and re-harmonizing the river's elements. Some of the things you can do around the area are sport fishing, kayaking, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, tree climbing and more.
