Transportation Services

About 95% of the people who visit Lapa Rios fly on domestic daily scheduled flights. The flight takes 50 minutes. The airstrip is in Puerto Jimenez and from there you will travel in a 4X4 Lapa Rios safari truck for 45 minutes to get to the reserve.

Driving is not recommended because of the cost, the time, and the roads. The trip is 7 to 10 hours depending on stops and weather, also consider the fact that there is very little to do with a car once you are at Lapa Rios. People who will spend more than 3 weeks in Costa Rica might consider it, as the experience is challenging and the scenery is interesting and varied. We can arrange domestic flights for you.
