Location and Driving Directions

Hotel Balcon del Mar is situated in Jaco, a beach about an hour and a half away from San Jose. If you decide to drive down there your trip will be highlighted by lush coffee fields, rural villages and impressive mountain ranges. From San Jose get on the Pan American Highway in a northward direction head for Puntarenas. This will take you past the airport, or if you are leaving from the airport start from here on. Drive on for about 10 to 15 minutes, take the exit for Atenas and follow all the street signs for Jaco and Quepos. The highway will take you through Atenas, San Mateo, Orotina, and Tarcoles in that order. When you reach Jaco’s main street take a right on Calle del Bohi, stay straight, turn right again at the end of the road and Hotel Balcon del Mar will be on your right hand side, nearby the police station. The trip will take approximately 1.5 – 2 hours depending on how bad traffic is and what time of day you head down that way.
