The Arenal Observatory lodge offers guests a wide variety of activities and adventures. There are hiking trails throughout the property where you can enjoy bird watching. The lodge has reported over 350 bird species such as the sun bittern, the laughing falcon, and many more. Other trails lead you to a 20-foot waterfall, old lava trails, and forest. You can also enjoy the swimming pool and the Jacuzzi at the Lodge. While staying at the Arenal Observatory Lodge, you can enjoy a pleasant sunset on the Arenal Lake and breathtaking view of the Arenal Volcano by taking a sunset cruise. Also enjoy sport fishing at the Arenal Lake, where you can find Manchaca, Mojarra, and more. Some other activities you will be able to enjoy are kayaking, horseback riding, and even white water rafting on the Sarapiqui River. More places to visit around the area are the Venado Caves, Penas Blancas River, Cano Negro Wildlife Reserve, and the Danaus Eco Center.
