Location & Driving Directions

Arenal Lodge is located in La Fortuna, San Carlos on the west side of the Arenal Volcano. If you are driving from the Juan Santamaria International Airport or San Jose, you can choose from 2 routes that have beautiful scenery. One of the routes is to take the Inter American Highway north towards Grecia. When you see the sign to Grecia, turn right and continue to downtown Grecia. Once you reach the center of town you will see a red church on your left. Drive to the back of the church by turning left and at the next corner turn left again. Follow the sign to Sarchi, and once there continue on the road to Naranjo. When you arrive in Naranjo follow the signs to Zarcero, Ciudad Quesada, Tanque and La Fortuna.

The other route is to take the Inter American Highway towards San Ramon, La Tigra, Chaguagua and La Fortuna. Exit on the sign to San Ramon and drive into that town where you will look for the sign to San Lorenzo and La Tigra. Follow the signs and continue to Chaguagua and then into La Fortuna. For both routes, once you get to the town of La Fortuna, take the road to Tilaran, a distance of 12 miles (20km). The main entrance to the Hotel is located 220 yards (200 m) after the lake. From the main road to the hotel there is a road of about 1 ½ miles (2 ½ km)
