Location and Driving Directions

The Amapola is located near Playa (Beach) Jaco in the province of Puntarenas at approximately 2 hour from San Jose by highway. If you are traveling by bus, there are daily buses departing from dowtown San Jose to Jaco Beach. Once at Jaco Beach you make take a taxi that will take you directly to the hotel. If you are traveling by car from San Jose or the Juan Santamaria International Airport, drive past the airport and take the Atenas exit on the Inter American Highway. At the stop sign turn left. The road slowly winds its way through the mountains. Follow the main street through Atenas to San Mateo. At San Mateo the road jogs right one block due to one way traffic. After making the jog, the road takes you back onto the main drag. As you approach Orotina a sign directs you right. That goes into the business district. Instead, continue straight ahead and soon there will be a sign pointing right, to Jaco. This is the road you want. The highway is in good condition here. You will find signs of along the way that will direct you to the hotel.
