Ocotal Costa Rica

Ocotal is a relatively small pale sand beach just 2 miles (3 km) south of Playa del Coco on the northwest Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Playa Ocotal is a breath of fresh air and tranquility if you are seeking refuge from the crowds at Playas del Coco. During weekends and Costa Rican holidays, Coco Beach overflows its capacity, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a villa, or hotel room available if you don’t have previous reservations. However, at Ocotal beach resort s private beach you’ll be able to relax and enjoy the view. Ocotal beach is 400 meters long and provides great opportunity to practice snorkeling. There’s a diving school and diving outfitter if you wish to explore the reefs or neighboring Catalina Islands. diving is the most popular water sport in the area. The high season for scuba diving is from April through September. The nearby Catalinas and Bat Islands are the hot sites for turtles, sharks and octopus.

In Ocotal, you’ll be able to enjoy the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica at its best. Take surfing trips to Witches’ Rock on a boat, go snorkeling on the neighboring rocky reefs or close islands, go sailing, kayak in the tranquil bay, lay in the salt and pepper colored sand, or try a wonderful deep sea fishing charter, where you can catch marlin, sailfish, wahoo and more. On the water near the coast you will see boats anchored waiting to take you on a sport fishing tour. If you are lucky enough you might catch a marlin. You can also take a boat trip to enjoy a fiery orange Pacific sunset. The ocean in Guanacaste is safe enough to swim and play in the waves. The paved roads make it easy to travel through out the entire province. If you enjoy nightlife, a short drive away is Coco Beach, with its bars, restaurants and lively Costa Rican atmosphere.
