In order to get to Montezuma beach there are two ways, depending on where you’re coming from. If you are coming from Liberia or the Costa Rican North, you will need to drive south and around the Nicoya Peninsula on gravel roads. From San Jose you’ll need to get to Puntarenas, and then take the ferry to Paquera. Once in Paquera, continue on the road to Cobano and Cabuya. The vegetation in this area is unique, you’ll be able to enjoy the dry tropical forest if you drive, and you’ll see many mangroves, estuaries and islands if you take the ferry which glides between islands in the Nicoya Gulf of Costa Rica.
