It may be a hassle to make international phone calls, especially from a country that you are not familiar with. In this appendix we have created an easy guide to help you make international phone calls to and from Costa Rica the easiest way possible. We hope this guide is as helpful as possible.

Since some companies provide services for foreign clients, it is usual that these companies use the toll free option to provide better service. Some companies that have this service are usually tourism related, schools and even embassies and consulates have this feature in Costa Rica. Country codes are easy when referring to Costa Rica, depending on the area you live in there is a primary code you are to dial to reach international access, after you have dialed that code, all you have to do is dial Costa Rica’s area code and the phone number you wish to reach.

International Access Code + Costa Rica Code (506) + (number you wish to reach)

Regarding Costa Rica area code, there is only one: 506 and all of Costa Rica’s phone numbers have 7 digits; you don’t have to worry about a separate phone code from the exact place you wish to call.

To call from Costa Rica, you will need the area code of your country. Here is a small list of top countries that call from Costa Rica, if you country is not listed below, we recommend you reach you phone company and inquire about your area code to call from Costa Rica to your country. After you have the area code of the country you wish to call, you will have to dial our international access code which is 011. So the order to dial the codes for you international phone calls from Costa Rica should be:

011 + (area code of the country you want to reach) + (location area code if needed) + phone number
