Playa Grande is a quiet destination with much more to offer than meets the eyes. This unspoiled shore sits along the northern pacific coast in Guanacaste. Clear waters and low tides allow the observation of many colorful fish. The sand is adorned with quaint tidal pools and nature trails. This is an ideal location to sunbathe, relax or explore nature. From November to April this beautiful beach is known as the nesting site for leatherback turtles, this endangered species comes up to the shore to lay its eggs under the cover of night, an unforgettable experience. Surfers love the consistent beach breaks, high waves and swells found at Playa Grande. Apart from affordable accommodations and excellent surf this beach is safe for swimming and also forms part of the important Marino Las Baulas National Park. Playa Grande is not easily accessible, but this fact only makes it more interesting and exciting to visit.
