A legend tells that after God was done painting the sky, he washed the brushes in Rio Celeste (River Light Blue). You will depart from your hotel heading to the Volcano Tenorio National Park where you will begin your hike into the park. Once in the park, begin hiking through primary forest with your naturalist guide who will teach you about the jungle. Keep your eyes wide open for howler monkeys and many other animals. After the hike you will arrive at Los Tenideros of the Rio Celeste. This is the site where 2 streams of crystalline water meet and form a heavenly light blue color that gives the river its name. Here you will have a rest or swim as your guide prepares fresh fruit for your break. As you continue you will have many beautiful views of the Blue River with the spectacular Rio Celeste Waterfall as the grand finale. After the hike you will then have a typical lunch at a local restaurant and then a stop at Las Pumas Rescue Center where we will show you 6 types of wild cats native to Costa Rica along with other animals such as monkeys, macaws, toucans, pizotes, fox, and deer.
