You leave San Jose on this self drive tour to La Paz Waterfall Gardens. La Paz Waterfall Gardens is a multi-million dollar nature park in Costa Rica. The park is in the mountains at an altitude from 5,200 feet to 4,200 feet so be prepared for cooler temperatures if the clouds roll in. This signature attraction is themed around four magnificent waterfalls accessed by professionally designed and fabricated trails and viewing platforms. Waterfall Gardens has one of the largest enclosed Butterfly Observatory in the world covering 18,000 square feet and towering 50 feet in height. Their butterfly collection includes ten species of the most colorful butterflies found in Costa Rica. In the Hummingbird Garden the hummingbirds have become so tame they will feed within a few feet of you. Also included in this tour is a typical Cost Rican style buffet lunch which includes a full salad bar, a seasoned chicken and beef, rice, sautéed vegetables, plantains, black beans, tortillas, French bread, juice, coffee and rice pudding.
