Playa Escondida Costa Rica
Playa Escondida is a breathtaking horseshoe shaped stretch of warm sands. There are two different ways to access this beautiful beach; the first is by way of a private road which requires a special pass to enter, the second way to reach Playa Escondida is via a charming boat taxi that takes you to a quaint cove located on the lovely south end of the beach. All visitors should beware of the sharp rocks that tend to be exposed during low tide. During high season this location can get a little crowded. Consistent world-class waves can be found here year round. Playa Escondida boasts an incredible A-frame fast point reef break that tends to be very tubular. Left side swells tend to be hollow, while the right is usually a bit mellow. The challenging waves are best surfed from mid tide to high tide, they can be very powerful and it is not uncommon to see surfers cut themselves on the coral reef. Playa Escondida is a gorgeous tropical destination recommended for experienced surfers.
