Early in the afternoon you will drive to beautiful Kekoldi Indian Reserve to visit the interesting Green Iguana Project. A few years ago the striking Green Iguana was an endangered species and the local Indian people decided to reproduce them in captivity. This tour is a wonderful learning experience. You will see the process of iguana reproduction and raising. In Costa Rica the Pro Iguana Verde Foundation, continues to implement a conservation program for green iguanas which began over fifteen years ago in Panama. The project of raising the iguanas and releasing them back into the wild, has also laid the practical foundations for iguana farming for local farmers. Our tour teaches great values concerning species preservation, ecological awareness as well as appreciation for nature. You will get an in-depth look at an iguana's life and the terrific effort it takes to save an endangered, but cherished species. |
