It is the only crater in continuous volcanic activity involving water and gases. Its constant climb discovers different types of flora and fauna due to the elevation, weather and temperature differences. You leave the lodge around 7:30am in car or walking. Here you can see one of the nine eruptive centers that conform the bulk of the Rincon de la Vieja, the Von Seebach is the highest one. From its top to the northeast you can observed the Great Lake of Nicaragua and to the west the Pacific Ocean. The climb involves walking for about 3.5 hours one way. You can also enjoy the Hidden waterfalls, a series of three cascades of approximately 210 ft high each one. Their water is so pure and crystalline that you can see the bottom of 10 ft deep. |
