You go by car to Golfito, where you board a motorboat. The tour takes you along the untouched, hardly inhabited coast of the Golfo Dulce, where the rainforest reaches all the way down to the beach. Pelicans sit in the trees overlooking the ocean, and there is a good chance of seeing dolphins. After one hour, we reach Casa Orquídea, a beautifully landscaped private tropical garden with hundreds of species of ornamental and edible plants. After a guided tour either by the owners, Ron and Trudy Macallister, or by the tour guide, there is time for swimming on the beautiful beach and a picnic lunch. In case of rough seas, the picnic might be consumed on tranquil Playa Cacao across from Golfito. This tour is not available on Fridays. |
